Welcome to the Saint Gregory Catholic Elementary School Website. The Saint Gregory School continues to grow and flourish in the light and spirit of Jesus Christ. Staff and Parent Volunteers expose everyone to a climate of warmth, trust, openness, honesty and integrity through the work of the Holy Spirit. Saint Gregory is a school for parents and students who desire an educational system devoted to Christian values that are openly practiced on a daily basis. To ‘Teach As Jesus Taught’ and ‘Keeping the Circle Strong’ are mottos believed and practiced by all at Saint Gregory. We are fortunate to have a very strong Catholic Community that openly accepts all who believe in Christianity and who support both Catholic Schools in the community. Saint Gregory is a school that provides services from Junior Kindergarten/Senior Kindergarten to grade 4 and is considered to be very academic in standing. Provincial Achievement results continue to be above provincial average from year to year. The school also provides assistance to all students and especially those in need. We provide two early literacy programs for students having difficulty with Reading, Writing and Spelling. A lot of resources are generously applied to these two programs. Our AISI (Alberta Initiative for School Improvement) Project is directly related to our Early Speech Intervention Initiative and is called 'Wee Talk'. Through the Hinton Community Health Services, in conjunction with a Speech-Language Patholigist we were able to train one of our teacher aides as a Speech-Language Aide. We are able to diagnose and provide early intervention to students requiring Speech Assistance. Our Kindergarten staff, along with all aides are trained in speech assistance. The school provides professional speech therapy through the Hinton Community Health Services. We are fortunate to have a very active Parent Council and Parent Advisory Committee that assist and advise the school administration/staff with many valuable contributions and ventures. The school also has an open-door policy, inviting parents to join in the learning environment of their children. Please feel welcome in our school.
